Invisalign in Charlotte, NC
Invisalign is an excellent alternative for Charlotte, NC patients who desire straighter smiles without the long-term commitment and conspicuous look of fixed braces. Also referred to ‘clear’ or ‘invisible’ braces, the Invisalign system is a removable, custom-fabricated device designed to straighten teeth over a period of time. While suitable for patients of all ages, Invisalign is especially favored by adults who want a straighter smile without having to wear the traditional metal braces often associated with children. At Dr. Linger’s office, we offer a full scope of orthodontic services.
The Invisalign Process
Not sure if Invisalign is right for you? When you contact us about your interest in clear braces, we’ll begin with a consultation to evaluate your concerns and determine the best course of action. If interested in proceeding with Invisalign treatment, we’ll take x-rays and make an impression of your teeth, which is then sent to a lab to create aligners.
Invisalign uses state-of-the-art 3D computer imaging technology to create clear plastic aligners that are custom-made to fit your exact teeth and bite. During your visit, you’ll be provided with several sets of aligners that should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, for approximately two weeks per set. Elastic bands may be needed to alter bite position.
The overall number of Invisalign aligners you’ll need from start to finish will ultimately depend on the condition of your teeth and bite. However, the average case takes about 12 months for adults, and can vary considerably for teen patients. Only your dentist can provide an approximate treatment length based on your individual case.
Braces vs. Invisalign
For many patients, the advantages of Invisalign over braces are invaluable. One of the biggest benefits is appearance. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign consists of clear plastic aligners that are barely noticeable. Invisalign also has the advantage of being removal. Simply take out the aligner when you’re ready to eat, drink, or brush.
